Are you wanting to start your own business or start a non-profit?  They are not the same thing.  As someone that has done grant research for a while now, I am finding out that non-profits are starting to combine their efforts and make their non-profits a combination of profit and non-profit.  That way they can enjoy the benefits of both sides.

You should look more into this by doing a little research online.

While there are still investors and angel investors that are still around please be advised that you are going to have to make some sort of presentation - you are going to have to show them WHY they should invest in your business.

In this day and time you are going to have to be a little more "savvy" as you seek to start your business.  Funding programs are still available for those - especially minorities - that want to start their own business(es) but again just because you apply doesn't mean that you will automatically get the funding.  Your application has to be chosen by the team of people that head the funding program.

First check your state website to see if they have any grant programs for those wanting to start a business in your area.  You should also be aware that depending upon where you want your non-profit to be you are going to have to get the approval to operate your non-profit - whether it be in a residential or commercial area.

We all have to ask for help sometimes. There is no shame in asking. I am happy to help out in any way that i can.

Have you been to the Salvation Army there? They will usually help out with part or all of the bills.

Next, you may want to check with the local churches. Usually they will help out also. 

I've been unemployed and searching since April, with no luck due to the economy. Same story over and over, "Not hiring at this point, but we'll hold on to your application in case anything comes up". After nearly five months of being unemployed, I've become terribly frustrated, and depressed over the probability of becoming homeless. I am currently 2 months behind in my rent , and have received disconnect notices on my utilities (gas has already been disconnected). I have exactly $20.00 left to my name at this point, and I need approximately $937.00 to make it through the month of September, without being evicted. Honestly, I feel embarrased to find myself in this predicament. I had to apply for, and was approved for emergency food stamps last week.After having grown up in a family that almost seemingly prides itself on collecting money from the government for bringing fatherless children into the world, I made a conscious effort not to follow this pattern, and what does it all mean, now? All of the organizations that are set up to assist in financial crisis are only willing to help when you have those(fatherless) children. I'm at a loss as to what to do. 

 I was in the hurricane Ike and i lost a lot. I am a single parent of one and still trying to get on my feet. I  will be attending school again in the summer. I need transportation and money for bills and books. I can't afford shipping and handling for and government packages. I just need a little help utill i can pick up where i left off. i need about $6,000 to help me.
